Canadian Grain Commission Revokes Licenses of Purely Canada Foods
The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has revoked both the dealer and primary elevator licenses of Purely Canada Foods at its Saskatchewan facilities in Avonlea, Kindersley, and Lajord as of August 28. This action raises concerns for farmers across all three prairie provinces, who may be owed money by the company.
The CGC advises affected farmers to contact them if they are owed payment. The commission’s Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program will use the company’s security to cover eligible claims, which are limited to a 90-day window from grain delivery or 30 days from the issuance of a cash purchase ticket or cheque, whichever period is shorter.
