Jon joined LeftField Commodity Research in 2019, adding his experience to their independent and data-driven approach to analyzing western Canadian crop markets. Prior to joining LeftField Jon spent 20 years working as a market analyst, futures broker and economist at various different Canadian companies. He attended the University of Manitoba where he obtained an MsC in Agricultural Economics, and more recently completed his PhD. Jon lives on a small farm outside Grunthal, MB with his wife and daughters.

Gerald (Jerry) Klassen is a seasoned agricultural market analyst with over 25 years of experience in international commodity trading. Raised on a Southern Alberta farm, he developed an early interest in price discovery across grain and cattle markets. Jerry has held senior roles with Canadian and Swiss-based grain trading companies and served as Chairman of the Canadian Grain and Oilseed Exporters Association from 2017 to 2021. A long‑time contributor to Cattleman Magazine and Grainews, he is cited across national media sources and continues to farm canola, wheat, and barley while sharing practical market insight across a variety of platforms.
